Did you leave yesterday’s soup on the stove?

Zoran Franc / News World24

We must store it properly so that our food does not spoil, whether it is dry food, fresh food or cooked food. This is even more important in the warmer months when the air is full of germs that quickly infest food. So we can accumulate digestive problems or even get poisoned.

Don’t leave food on the stove.

Unfortunately, there aren’t always visible signs like mold, bad odor and the like that tell us unequivocally that food has gone bad. If possible, store all raw and cooked foods in the refrigerator before placing them in sealable containers.

Stale soups left on the stove in warm weather can already be hazardous to your health.

WHERE WITH HOT DISHES?

Stews, soups and similar dishes that are not eaten immediately and cool very slowly in the container we prepared them in should be cooled quickly and stored in the fridge during the summer months. The best way is to place the covered bowl in a sink of cold water and continuously add water until the bowl and the bowl inside have cooled. Jars with pickled fruit and vegetables are stored in a dry, cool and dark place for many months.

PA TETRAPAKI?

Anything packaged in tetrapacks, cans, tubes and jars, such as juices and other drinks, mayonnaise, mustard, jam, pickles and the like, must be kept in the fridge even after the original packaging has been opened.

Hot food that you are not going to eat should be chilled and stored in the refrigerator as soon as possible.

How many days we need to consume these foods, we follow the instructions on the packaging. Store all food and cooked food in the refrigerator in tightly sealed containers.

COVER AND SAVE

Fruit and vegetables are stored in the lower drawers, meat on the lower shelf where it is coldest. Cover leftovers on plates or in bowls tightly with cling film. We also cover the bowls with custard when we let them cool in the fridge. Glass jars with tight-fitting lids are great for storage.

These are available in different shapes and sizes. If we don’t have such containers, we use glasses, sundaes, cottage cheese jars and other plastic packaging that needs to be washed well.

COFFEE

You can quickly get rid of the unpleasant smell that has arisen in the refrigerator if you pour some coffee into an open container and leave it in the refrigerator overnight.

BUCKEYE

Place chestnut leaves in kitchen cabinets and drawers. Popular wisdom says that they prevent moths from settling.
