Studs – also known as ‘conical studs’ – are said to provide more cushioning for your feet and can make it easier for you to swivel and turn. Moulded blades on the other hand make you cover more surface area with better traction, boosting your ability to accelerate. Both of these can be used on firm ground, but studs tend to be better on soft ground as they penetrate the turf and give you more stability. There are some restrictions on what you can and can’t wear on artificial surfaces, so which option you go for should also depend on where you’ll be using them the most.
